The Land Rover Newsroom have recently reported on the 2015 Rugby World Cup. The Hitz programme in collaboration with Land Rover selected the Argetinian mascot Lourdez Schillaci, to be a mascot for one of the competion games. The Hitz scheme, through rugby, has been created in Argentina to give children skills including self confidence, resilience and fitness. These invaluable life skills, will help young people to succeed in all areas of their lives. Twelve year old Lourdez from Buenos Aires, Argetina led out the players for the New Zealand vs Argentina match. She was accompanied by another mascot, Jake Thornton.
Jake who is also twelve and from New Zealand, had been nominated for the position of World Cup Mascot by his Uncle. The nomination was part of a Land Rover competition that had been held in New Zealand. Jake Thornton had been given the exciting news by Dan Carter, the 2011 Rugby World Cup winner and All Blacks team member.
Land Rover, as the worldwide partner of the Rugby World Cup, have recruited mascots worldwide. In doing so, the company supported the grass roots campaign for rugby availability to people of all levels and ability in the #WeDealInReal campaign. 96 children were given a once in a lifetime opportunity to lead out their fellow countrymen onto the pitch.
The Global Brand Experience Director for Land Rover, Mr Mark Cameron said …
“Land Rover is delighted to be giving these youngsters the opportunity of a lifetime to become mascots at Rugby World Cup 2015, as part of our We Deal In Real campaign. Having been selected from each of the competing nations along with a number of home nation winners, we believe this will showcase the grassroots players who represent the true spirit of the game around the world.”
Sidesteps wish all the mascots that have been selected by Land Rover to take part, all the very best for the future.
