The Special Vehicle Operations division of Land Rover created the modified 110 Defender at their headquaters in Ryton, UK. The brief was to be able to securely and safely display the iconic trophy whilst on tour. The key element to meeting the requirements of the vehicle, come in the form of a high tech and secure trophy cabinet. The trophy cabinet is sited at the rear of the Defender 110. The cabinet consists of a variety of special features. These include a Toshiba screen, displaying former memorable moments of previous World Cups. Constant climate control and anti fogging technology has been installed, so that the cup is always visible. Anti reflective security glass is also a feature, as well as dramatic lighting.

The vehicle is powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine and a six speed manual transmission system.

The interior of the Land Rover Defender has personalised design specifications including gold stitching on the black leather seats, doors and dashboard. The Rugby World Cup logo also features on the vehicle’s head rests.

Land Rover are Worldwide partners in the Rugby World Cup 2015 Tour and the specifically designed Defender 110 will have no problem getting the Trophy to more than 300 events over the 100 day Rugby Tour.

Sidesteps UK wish all of the participants in the competition all the very best of luck!
